The long-run cost of slots is simple arithmetic: total amount bet times the house edge. The house edge is 100% minus the game’s RTP. A 96% RTP slot keeps about $4 of every $100 wagered on average. No slot pays on demand, and short sessions can land far from the average.

Why wagering matters more than bonus size

A bonus has to be wagered before you can withdraw it, and every dollar wagered costs you the house edge on average. That turns wagering requirements into a real dollar cost. The same formula applies: amount you must wager times house edge.

Take an example $100 deposit with a matching $100 bonus at 25x deposit plus bonus. You must wager $200 x 25, or $5,000. At an example 96% RTP, the expected cost of that play is $200.
